Elaine Liu Organizer and CuratorHey guys! This is my second year organizing a TEDx event, my first being TEDxYouth@CityOfIndustry. Aside from my TEDx duties, I love photography, and frequently blog, and take photos for my school’s yearbook. I’m one of the deputy captains for my school’s Speech & Debate team, and when I’m not at school, you can probably find me at Starbucks doing homework or jamming out to music on Spotify. I love organizing for this event and curating speakers’ talks, and I am thrilled to be working with such wonderful people and have a role in editing their speeches. I hope that you’ll be just as excited to see them on the TEDx stage as I am. Come see for yourself!

Nathan Wong Co-OrganizerHello! I’m excited to be working side-by-side with every member of this committee as well as every speaker and audience member towards TED’s goal: to spread ideas. When I am not working on TEDx material, I am involved with the Future Business Leaders of America - Phi Beta Lambda, Circle K International, and the Riverside Surging Dragons, all based at my school, the University of California, Riverside! I have a wide variety of interests from business ideologies to finding out the perfect recipe for mac n cheese, making me a very interesting person to talk to at times. Aside from studying for exams, my favorite hobbies are dragon boating, trying to find the best boba place, and Netflix. I am exuberant about being a part of this committee and a part of this event and hope to see YOU at the event!

Phillip Sobretodo Social Media ManagerHi! By means of TEDx, we spread ideas that invoke a deeper sense of introspection, which is why I am happy to be a part of the TEDxYouth@Walnut team. I am a tech junkie with a strong interest in computers and design (both graphic and interior, oddly enough), making me one of the world’s biggest nerds. When I am not amusing myself over computer repair or HGTV, I heavily dedicate my time to the performing arts and leadership sectors. I am the head captain of our Color Guard team as well as the dance captain/public relations officer of our Men’s Choir. I am also the tech officer for a club named “Scholarship Search” and a part of class cabinet. I am super ecstatic about our event and hope to see you there!

Christie Hui Logistics HeadHello all! Alongside being a dedicated community member in volunteer projects and organizations, I enjoy watching various shows on Netflix and being an active member in multiple music ensembles such as wind ensemble, marching band, orchestra, chamber percussion ensemble, and drumline. I am very excited to be a part of this committee, and I cannot wait to see what we will achieve.

Linette TanG Logistics Co-HeadHello! I’m a self-professed perfectionist and enjoy organizing and coordinating events. I dedicate a healthy portion of my free-time to colorguard and furthering my status as a mega food-geek. But when it comes down to it, meaningful outlets for self-expression and the empowerment of others are my biggest priority--that’s why I’m dedicated to bring this event to fruition.

Katrina VillavertLogisticsHello! When I am not coordinating events for this committee, I enjoy volunteering around my local community. There is no experience more fulfilling than making a difference in someone else’s life, and everyone has the ability to do so! Besides my interest in spreading ideas with TEDxYouth@Walnut, I also have a strong passion for music and love to sing, dance, and play the piano. Let’s take these opportunities to inspire action, transform lives, and change the world!

Bernard Yu LogisticsHey! Aside from helping out with sponsorships, I dedicate a lot of my time to the *Asterisk Dragonboat Team. I also enjoy helping people, which is also why I’m a part of Peer Counseling. Both of these organizations have helped me realize how powerful friendships are, so I’m always ready to make new friends!

Cynthia Lu DesignHi! I enjoy graphic design as a visual outlet for the communication and expression of ideas. I believe that everyone has a unique story to share, and TEDx gives people from all different backgrounds the opportunity to do that. It’s also why I’m involved with the school yearbook, although “involved” seems like a bit of an understatement. Together, yearbook and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) make up my entire life. Feel free to come talk to me about anything and I hope to see you at our TedxYouth@Walnut event!

Cherie Chu Logistics/DesignHi! I’m passionate about designing and giving a voice to everyone, and TEDx is the perfect opportunity to combine both interests of mine. This also aligns with one of my other activities: designer and editor for the school newspaper. If I’m not working on InDesign or Google Docs, more often than not you will catch me sleeping. I can’t wait to see you at the TEDxYouth@Walnut event! (Don’t worry, I won’t be sleeping there.)

Audrey Lam LogisticsHey everyone! One of my passions is speech and debate. When I was in elementary school, my teacher requested for me to be involved in a speech pathology class since I had trouble speaking and communicating. However, after discovering Speech and Debate, I was able to find my voice and my passion. I’ve grown to truly love speech and debate, as it is a way to express and advocate for others; throughout my past 2 years in highschool, I was able to qualify to the state and national tournament in debate. TEDx is another outlet that I have discovered to share ideas and passions.
I’m super excited to be involved in such a great event that empowers the youth with knowledge and creates future game changers of our society :) |
Andraes Arteaga ProductionsOne fact about me is my passion for Christ and for doing good the world, which has led me to pursuing videography and film as my career. I strive to perfect this career by making short films and by going to school to learn as much as I can. By doing so, I hope to be a great director someday.
